Press Release #071414(05)-Police Arrest San Angelo Man for Meth after Responding to Assault Call

A 30-year-old San Angelo man was arrested for drug possession late Friday night after police were called to investigate an assault in progress.

 

On July 11, 2014, just after 9:30 p.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the area of Dallas and Van Buren Streets for the report of a man assaulting a female while walking near the roadway.  While enroute to the call, police received additional information that the parties were walking towards the Dollar General Store.

 

Upon arrival, police located a male and female who matched the description of the suspect and victim, walking near the 1800 block of Freeland Street.  Police spoke with the alleged victim, a 24-year-old San Angelo resident, and she denied the assault.

 

During a the field investigation, police learned that the male suspect, identified as Jimmy Carrasco, Jr. (DOB 01-17-84) was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.   

 

Carrasco was subsequently charged with Felony 3 Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.

Press Release #070914(4) Wanted Suspect Arrested

A 36-year-old San Angelo man who was recently featured on a SAPD Wanted Poster was arrested last night at a residence outside the city limits.

 

On July 08, 2014, at approximately 11:00 p.m., San Angelo Police Officers and Tom Green County Sheriff Deputies approached a residence off TX Hwy 380 believed to be occupied by known fugitive, Bradley Bishop (DOB 11.21.77).  As Officers approached the residence, Bradley ran out the back door and was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.

 

Bishop was transported to Shannon Medical Center for evaluation and then to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with the outstanding warrants for Burglary of a Building and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Bishop was the subject of an Arrest Warrant issued in connection with the Burglary of Jim Bass Ford incident that occurred this past weekend.

Press Release #070814(03) Truck Crashes Through Local Business

On Monday, July 7, 2014, at approximately 8:50 p.m., San Angelo Police responded to the Concho Educators FCU parking lot located at 3215 W Loop 306 for the report of a vehicle crash involving a building.

 

Upon arrival, police observed a red, 2001 Chevrolet Silverado had collided into the north wall of the bank and continued through building to damage the east wall.  The driver, Christopher Doty (02/08/1993), of San Angelo and a 19 year old male passenger were taken to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance.   Both were treated for non-incapacitating injuries.   Driving While Intoxicated is suspected in the accident and the investigation is ongoing pending toxicology results.  There have been no arrests made at this time involving this incident.

The City of San Angelo is seeking applicants for September 6, 2014 Entrance Examination for Rookie Police Officer. 

 

Application Deadline:  Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Human Resources Department, 72 W. College, Room 201, San Angelo, TX  76903.  Applications received after this date will not be accepted. 

 

Examination:    Rookie Police Officer Examination, Saturday, September 6, 2014

Press Release #070114(01)-Police Investigate Unidentified Dead Body

San Angelo Police Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians continue to investigate a dead body that was located this morning in an abandoned trailer at a property in North San Angelo.

 

At approximately 9:37 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to Kay's Old Fashioned Barber Shop, 2340 N. Chadbourne, for the report of an unknown problem.

 

Upon arrival, police spoke with parties who said a man had come into the business to report he found a dead body at a nearby location.

 

Police made contact with the man and transported him to an area in the 100 block of E. Twenty-Fifth Street where there are several abandoned homes.  During an interior search of one of the abandoned trailers located on the property, police located the body of a subject who, by the state of decomposition, appears to have been deceased for some time.  At this time, the identity of the deceased is unknown, although it appears the deceased is a male.

 

Justice of the Peace Fred Buck responded to the scene and ordered the body sent to Lubbock, Texas for autopsy.

 

The man who alerted police was questioned at the scene by detectives and later released. 

 

This is an ongoing investigation.
