The San Angelo Police Department is seeking applicants that want to make a difference.  The deadline for the Police Rookie Application is at 5:00 pm on August 12, 2021, and the Civil Service Examination will be on August 20, 2021.  Starting salary is $42,856/yr and increases to $46,410/yr after completion of the police academy and state exam.

The San Angelo Police Department is also looking for Emergency Services Dispatchers.  There is currently no deadline for applications.  Starting salary is $31,868/yr and increases to $34,786/yr once the individual has completed certification requirements.

Stabbing

On June 21, 2021, an altercation occurred at the 400 blk of E Harris between Jerry Gonzales (8-9-00) and his ex-girlfriend.  She was driven away from that location by a friend in attempt to get away from the suspect.  Gonzales followed them to the Stripes on Glenna, where the stabbing occurred.

At 9:09 pm, Officers were dispatched to the Stripes located at 901 Glenna in reference to a stabbing that had just occurred.  A 31 year old male had been stabbed multiple times by the suspect.  The suspect fled the scene prior to Officers' arrival.  Officers rendered first aid to the victim until medics arrived on scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition.  Gonzales was not located at the time of the incident.

On June 22, 2021, at 6:54 am, Officers were dispatched to 2300 Armstrong in reference to a domestic disturbance with an assault in progress.  A passerby observed a male struggling with a female so they stopped to assist her.  Officers arrived on scene and located Jerry Gonzales, the suspect in the prior evening's stabbing, at the back of the property.  He was taken into custody without incident.  Gonzales was booked into the Tom Green County Jail for Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon.  This is still an ongoing investigation.

Homicide Arrest Press Release #061821(2)

On June 17, 2021 an arrest was made in regards to the Homicide that occurred at 2401 Lillie (Nueva Vista Apartments) on May 26, 2021.  After a lengthy investigation, the San Angelo Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was able to identify the suspect as Francisco Morales (17 years of age).  Detectives obtained a warrant for Morales and he was arrested in Abilene, TX with the assistance of the Abilene Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and Gang Unit.  No further information is available for release at this time.

Motorcycle Fatality Crash Press Release #061821(1)

On June 18, 2021, at 7:45 am, a major motor vehicle accident was reported at 4700 W Houston Harte Expressway EB.  The San Angelo Police Department's Traffic Division determined that the driver, Richard Graham, was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his motorcycle.  Graham succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  The speed of the motorcycle at the time of the crash was unable to be determined.  Alcohol was not a factor.  Graham was pronounced deceased by JP Werner.  Next of kin has been notified.  No additional information is available at this time.

Street Crimes Division Seizes Drugs, Guns, Cash During Warrant Search

On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Detectives with the Department’s Street Crimes Division (SCD) executed a Search Warrant at a residence located in the 1700 block of South Van Buren Street.  

During the search, detectives located and seized approximately 400 grams of THC products, cash, and several firearms.  

Two of the residences’ occupants, identified as 23-year-old Allyson Fly and 23-year-old Jared McGuffin, were subsequently charged with Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 or 2A >=400G and Possession of Marijuana >2OZ<=4OZ.

The San Angelo Police Department’s Patrol Division assisted with yesterday’s Warrant Operation.
