On 4/7/22 around 6:16pm, Officers with the SAPD Anti-Crime Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Grey in color Dodge charger near the intersections of East 7th and Volney Steet. The driver of the vehicle (Jason Lujan 31yoa) was identified by officers prior to the stop and it was known that he had multiple Felony warrants for his arrest.
Lujan disregarded the police lights/sirens and proceeded to evade the detention in his vehicle. A vehicle pursuit then ensued as officers attempted to take Lujan into custody.
During the pursuit, Officers observed Lujan shoot at the pursuing units. Lujan eventually stopped his vehicle in the 500blk of S. Lincoln Street where he was taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that Lujan was in possession of multiple firearms, Body Armor, as well as suspected methamphetamine. Lujan was taken into custody for his Felony Warrants, Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against a Police Officer, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 >1<4g.
Additional charges will be forthcoming as the incident is investigated further. No Officers/Civilians were injured during this incident and no damage to public/private property was reported.
