Suspect Arrested in Connection to Stabbing at Texas Packing

A 35-year-old San Angelo man employed at Texas Packing was arrested yesterday morning after he stabbed a co-worker in the neck and fled the facility.

Police were dispatched to Texas Packing, 1809 N. Bell Street, around 11:10 a.m. for the report of a stabbing.  While enroute, Officers learned the victim, a 41-year-old San Angelo man, was transported to a nearby hospital by private vehicle for treatment of his injuries.  The victim underwent emergency surgery and he is said to be in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as Pedro Carlos Robledo, reportedly fled the scene on foot following the assault and was last seen walking south on N. Bell Street.  While enroute to the crime scene, responding Officer D. Martin was near N. Bell and Veck Street when he observed a man who matched the suspect’s description, running from a trash can towards a nearby vehicle.  The man quickly entered the vehicle, which then fled the area at a high rate of speed.

When Officer Martin conducted an investigative stop on the vehicle, the passenger quickly exited and approached Officer Martin’s patrol unit.  The passenger was detained and positively identified as Robledo.  The driver, a former co-worker of Robledo’s, was released after Police learned he observed Robledo walking and stopped to give him a ride.

Following a preliminary investigation by the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Detectives learned Robledo stabbed his co-worker during a verbal exchange, went to the employee locker room, and then left the property.

Robledo was arrested for Aggravated Assault Causes Serious Bodily Injury and was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
