Just before 2:00 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Police attempted to stop the driver of a tan 2002 Toyota Tundra in the 300 block of East 6th street for running a stop sign; however, the driver disregarded Police overhead lights and sirens, additional traffic control devices and a short pursuit ensued throughout the neighborhood.
The pursuit ended in the 700 block of Holcomb Street after the driver lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to spin 180 degrees and come to a stop facing the pursuing Officers. Officers began instructing the driver to exit the vehicle but the driver disregarded their commands, drove towards a police vehicle, and struck it two times. The driver, identified as Luis E. Galarza Jr. (DOB 03-07-94), exited the vehicle after it became disabled and was taken into custody without further incident. Galarza was transported to the Tom Green County Jail, charged with Evading in a Vehicle, and issued Citations for his traffic violations.
Galarza was not injured from the collision, nor were any Officers. The patrol car sustained minor damages.
