Press Release #071714(08)-Three Teens Arrested after Felony Criminal Mischief Spree in East San Ange

Three male juveniles were arrested this morning after a lengthy investigation into multiple incidents of criminal mischief just north of Goodfellow Air Force Base.

Just before 8:00 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Era Street for the report of male juveniles spray-painting property.  The caller provided descriptions of the young men and their direction of travel.

San Angelo Police Officer D. Martin, who was patrolling nearby when the call came out, responded to the area and observed the suspects spray-painting graffiti.  Additional officers converged on the area and all three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Officers then canvassed the area and found several locations where cars, traffic signs, residential driveways, mailboxes, and the roadway itself were spay-painted with profanities and other markings.

Detectives with the Department's Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Technicians also responded to investigate the incidents that, so far, have been located within the 700 to 1000 blocks of Era Street.  Police also spoke with two independent witnesses who said they observed the males spray-painting objects while they walked down the street.

In addition to the criminal mischief, Police are investigating the report of a nearby vehicle burglary that may be linked to these incidents.

Police have not been able to make contact with all the victims where the damage was located and they expect more reports to come in as people return home for the day.  If you discover damage to your property, please call 325-657-4315 to request an officer to come out and take a report.

The juveniles ages 14, 15 and 16, were charged with State Jail Felony Criminal Mischief and were transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.  Additional charges are pending.  This is an ongoing investigation.
