Press Release #041315(08)-San Angelo Woman Arrested in Stabbing Incident

A twenty-four (24) year-old San Angelo woman was arrested this weekend after she stabbed her thirty-one (31) year-old boyfriend at a residence in an east San Angelo Neighborhood.

 

Police were sent to a residence in the 700 block of McCann Street just after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, for the report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival, initial Officer K. Green entered the residence and located a man suffering from an apparent stab wound to the abdomen.  Officer Green provided first aid until San Angelo Fire Department Medics arrived.  The victim was transported to Shannon Medical Center where he later underwent surgery.  The extent of his injuries and current medical condition is unknown.

 

Witnesses at the scene told police the suspect, later identified as Destiney Baker (DOB 08-27-90), had fled the residence after stabbing the man.  Additional patrol officers and two K-9 Teams arrived to the area and quickly established a perimeter. Just prior to the K-9 teams? track, officers were being told information about Baker's possible whereabouts when one of the witnesses began to yell and scream that Baker was on the side of the house.  Several officers ran to the area and located Baker hiding underneath some bushes.  Baker was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters for questioning before transport to the Tom Green County Jail. 

 

Detectives with the Department's Criminal Investigations Division and CSI Technicians were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.  CSI processed the scene for evidence and subsequently located the alleged knife used in the stabbing. 

 

During the investigation, police learned the stabbing occurred as the result of a verbal altercation between Baker and the victim, who are said to be in a relationship. 

 

Baker was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Family Violence.  This is an ongoing investigation.  No further information will be released at this time.  Detectives L. Dye is the lead investigator.
