Police Memorial Week Begins in #SanAngelo

National Police Week 2014: Sunday, May 11 through Saturday, May 17.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week.

Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

On Monday, May 12, the San Angelo Police Department will host a flag raising ceremony at the Police Department.  The ceremony is open to the public and is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.  This is a wonderful way for members of the public to join with us in honoring the memory of the 39 officers who were killed in the line of duty this year as well as the 105 who were killed in 2013.
