A 29-year-old San Angelo man is facing multiple charges after he fled a traffic stop and crashed into a residence in northwest San Angelo this morning.
Just after 1:00 a.m., San Angelo Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the driver of a blue 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck near N. Jefferson and Walnut Street but the driver failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
Shortly after the pursuit began, the driver bailed out of the truck and ran. The truck continued on and collided with landscaping and the front porch of a residence located in the 600 block of N. Jackson Street. No residents were injured as a result of the crash.
Police quickly established a perimeter and the driver was located hiding behind a vehicle in an alley near the 700 block of N. Monroe. The driver was identified as Christopher M. Lopez, who was wanted on four outstanding warrants.
During a search of the truck, Officers located suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and tools associated with burglary.
Lopez was arrested for his warrants, Evading Arrest Detention, Duty Upon Striking a Fixture >=$200, and Third Degree Felony Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1. Lopez was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
