Police Apprehend Suspect from Stabbing on West 24th Street

A 53-year-old San Angelo man is in custody in connection with an early morning stabbing on W. 24th Street. 

At approximately 12:46 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of W. 24th Street for the report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival, Officers located a 41-year-old woman suffering from apparent stab wounds inflicted by the woman’s husband, Stephener Paul Frazier.  Officers provided first aid to the woman until Fire Department Medics arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.  Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. 

Officers developed information about Frazier’s possible whereabouts and proceeded to a residence in the 200 block of W. 20th Street.  Frazier was located inside and taken into custody without incident.  The Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene to assist and conduct follow-up investigation. 

Frazier was transported to Police Headquarters for questioning and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon Family Violence.  Frazier was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.

Police Investigate Stabbing on Velma Street

Around 1:10 p.m. this afternoon, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Velma Street for the report of a possible stabbing. 

Upon arrival, Officers located a 31-year-old woman suffering from a laceration to her arm.  The suspect was no longer at the scene.  The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she reportedly underwent surgery.

Officers obtained a description of the suspect and immediately searched the area.  At approximately 1:15 p.m., Officer W. Bowhay located the suspect walking near N. Pope and 18th Streets.  The man was identified as Steven Rey Ortiz, 32, of San Angelo. 

Ortiz was transported to Police Headquarters for questioning.  Following the interview, Ortiz was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Family Violence and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.

Illegal Firearm Possession Suspect Arrested for Felony Forgery

38-year-old Jonathan Wayne Staker, one of the suspects in yesterday’s arrests following a joint operation with Midland Police regarding narcotics trafficking and illegal firearm possession, was arrested this afternoon for 3rd Degree Felony Forgery. 

The warrant, issued by Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire, named Staker as a suspect in connection to counterfeit currency that was located in yesterday’s operation. 

Staker was taken into custody around noon today by members of the Department’s Street Crimes and Patrol Division and transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.  

Staker was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.

Joint Operation Yields 3 Arrests from Narcotics Trafficking, Illegal Firearm Possession Investigatio

Yesterday, the San Angelo Police Department’s Street Crimes Division (SCD) and the Midland Police Department’s Narcotics Division conducted a joint operation that resulted in the arrests of three San Angelo residents in regards to the trafficking of narcotics and illegal firearm possession. 

Around 5:00 p.m., San Angelo Police initiated a traffic stop on a GMC pickup truck in the 2900 block of N. Chadbourne Street.  The driver, Charles Edward Usery, 45, was in possession of suspected narcotics that field-tested positive for the presence of approximately three and a half (3.5) ounces of methamphetamine.  Usery was arrested for First Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1. 

Subsequent to Usery’s arrest, Detectives executed a Search Warrant for a storage unit located at the Northside Storage facility, 2510 N. Chadbourne.  Detectives seized a quantity of evidence during the search. 

At approximately 10:30 p.m., San Angelo Police initiated a traffic stop on a Ford Expedition in the 2200 block of N. Chadbourne Street.  During the stop, investigators located a quantity of miscellaneous contraband.  The driver, Jonathan Wayne Staker, 38, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon.  A passenger, Della Jane McGlothlin, 40, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, Possession/Delivery Drug Paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant.  

Usery, Staker, and McGlothlin were booked into the Tom Green County Jail without incident following their arrests. 

Members of the Department’s Patrol Division and K-9 Unit assisted during the investigations.

San Angelo Police Arrest Two Suspects in Connection with Stabbing on Preusser Street

Two men are in custody after a man was stabbed at a local apartment complex Christmas evening. 

53-year-old Willie Bowman and 58-year-old Verdell Lewis, both of San Angelo, Texas, have been arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  The arrests came at the direction of the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division following a lengthy investigation at the El CID apartment complex, 317 Preusser Street. 

The investigation began around 9:40 p.m. when San Angelo Police were dispatched to Shannon Medical Center for the report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a 27-year-old San Angelo man who was suffering from a laceration to his arm.  Officers learned the man was cut by a knife following an altercation with Bowman and Lewis outside the man’s apartment.  The man’s wound is said to be non-life threatening. 

Around the same time, Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex for the report of a fight. Officers discovered the calls were connected.  Bowman and Lewis were located at the scene along with physical evidence of the assault.  

Bowman and Lewis were transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident and are being held in lieu of $20,000.00 bond. 

The men are acquaintances.
