Anti-Crime Unit Nab Thieves, Recover Thousands of Dollars in Stolen Tools in Early Morning Bust

October 11, 2018 — Just before 5:00 a.m., members of the San Angelo Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit and Patrol Division who were partnering to conduct targeted patrol in a high crime area near S. Bryant Blvd. noticed two subjects enter the Riverfalls housing area, empty-handed. 

A short time later, the subjects were observed exiting the housing area, arms loaded with property.  

Officers detained the two men, identified as Clayton C. Stroh, 23, and John H. West, 20, and learned the items were stolen from a vehicle in the 4300 block of Riverfalls Court.  Stroh was also armed with a handgun and West was in possession of dangerous drugs.  

Subsequent to the field investigation, Stroh was charged with State Jail Felony Theft and Unlawful Carrying Weapon.  West was charged with State Jail Felony Theft and Possession Dangerous Drugs.  The pair was booked into the Tom Green County Jail where they remain on $8,000 and $8,500 Bond. 

The stolen property, valued at approximately $14,500, was returned to the owner.  It was later determined that the firearm Stroh was carrying was reported stolen on Wednesday from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Van Buren Street.
