San Angelo, TX (November 1st, 2023, 9:36 pm) One male was taken into custody after attempting to evade Officers on foot after a traffic stop in the Southside of San Angelo. Nineteen-year-old Ivan Lopez was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses in relation to this incident.
An Officer with SAPD’s Anti-Crime Unit observed Lopez operating a white Dodge Charger near “River Ranch Apartments.” Officers were aware that Lopez had active warrants for his arrest, and a traffic stop was conducted on Lopez’s vehicle in the 1700 block of Knickerbocker Road.
Lopez was observed exiting the vehicle in an attempt to evade officers on foot. Officers pursued Lopez and observed him throw an unknown item over a fence in the 3600 block of S. Jackson. Lopez was then taken into custody a short distance later by responding officers.
Officers searched the area and learned that the item Lopez threw over the fence was a handgun that was reported stolen. Officers also learned that the handgun was modified/capable of automatic fire. Lopez was also found to be in possession of a small amount of Marijuana and suspected “THC” Vape Pens. Lopez was charged with the below offenses, but additional charges may be forthcoming as this investigation continues.
