Craig Thomason was hired in April of 2008 and served as a Patrolman where he received Rookie of the Year in 2009. In 2010, Thomason was transferred to the Special Operations Section where he served as a detective. In early 2015, Thomason was transferred to the Narcotics Division where he served as a detective. In late 2015, Thomason was promoted to Sergeant where he served as a Patrol Supervisor for a few months before being transferred back to the Department’s Special Operations Section as a supervisor. In 2016, Special Operations and Narcotics merged, subsequently creating the Department’s Street Crimes Division. Thomason served as a Street Crimes Supervisor until promoting to Lieutenant in 2019. After promoting to Lieutenant, Thomason was assigned as the A/B Company Patrol Commander and later assigned to D/F Company, as well as the Department’s Anti-Crime Unit. Lieutenant Thomason served on the Department’s SWAT Team for 11 years.
Craig Thomason is currently assigned as the Assistant Chief over Investigations, Training, SWAT, CNT, ARC, amongst other administrative duties/assignments.
Lieutenant Thomason holds a Master Peace Officer’s Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He also holds a BA in Criminal Justice from Angelo State University.
