Yesterday, December 17, 2015 at approximately 12:00 pm, San Angelo Police responded to the Econolodge, 415 W Beauregard, for a shots fired call. Officers located a male subject, Justin McCarty, in the area who had been the victim of an assault. Officers also located another victim, Cheyenne Ponce, and a female witness in the area.
The assault took place in room 116 at the Econolodge. Evidence of gunshots being fired in the room was located by the investigating Officers. Members of the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the motel to investigate.
Ponce reported to investigators she had been choked by a white male suspect and had a handgun pointed at her by a Hispanic male suspect. During the altercation, the Hispanic male fired the handgun in the room and chased McCarty out of the room. No one was injured from the shots being fired. McCarty showed signs of being physically assaulted and was treated for minor injuries at Shannon Medical Center.
The two suspects were seen leaving the area in a white 2002 Mazda passenger car. The suspects have not been located at this time.
