Just before 5:00 p.m. yesterday, San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of E. 23rd Street for the report of an unwanted subject.
Police arrived and learned that the subject, 32-year-old Elgin Taunton, just left the location and he was headed towards Bradford Elementary. While enroute to the School, Officers were advised Taunton had two outstanding City Warrants.
Officers located Taunton walking near E. 22nd and Main Streets. Officers attempted to contact Taunton but he ran from them.
A perimeter was established and Officers observed Taunton jump from the bed of a truck that was parked behind a residence in the 1100 block of E. 22nd. After Taunton jumped from the truck's bed, he ran through a front yard and into an occupied residence.
Officers made contact with the residents and Taunton was located in a bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident.
Taunton was arrested for his outstanding warrants, Criminal Trespass of a Habitation, and Evading Arrest Detention with Prior Conviction.
Taunton was transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries he sustained while fleeing Officers. Once cleared by medical staff, Taunton was transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
