Police Smell Marijuana, Find Nearly 54 Grams of Methamphetamine in Parked Vehicle

Just before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2019, a San Angelo Police Patrol Officer made contact with two occupants in a parked vehicle at the Stripes convenience store located at 1802 S. Bryant Blvd.  

While speaking with the occupants, the Officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  

During the subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, the Officer located nearly 54 grams of suspected Methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia used to traffic narcotics.  The investigation revealed the occupants had smoked marijuana inside the vehicle just prior to the police contact.  

The vehicle’s 26-year-old driver, Crystal Garcia, was arrested and charged with First Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and Possession Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 (Xanax) <28G.  The passenger, 28-year-old Ashley Garcia, was arrested and charged with First Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and out-of-county warrants for MTR Possession Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, MTR Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse X2, and Possession of Marijuana <2oz.  The pair was booked into the Tom Green County Jail.
