City Water Utilities Driver to Receive Citation for Friday’s Crash with Motorcycle

A 40-year-old City of San Angelo Employee will be issued a citation for Friday’s traffic crash with a motorcycle at Baker and Rust Streets.

Police were dispatched to the intersection on June 30 at approximately 3:23 p.m. for the report of a major traffic crash involving a San Angelo Water Utilities vehicle and a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 49-year-old San Angelo woman, was rushed to a nearby hospital for initial treatment of incapacitating injuries.  She was subsequently flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where she is reported to be in stable condition.  The driver was not wearing a helmet.  A 53-year-old female passenger received non-incapacitating injuries but she refused medical treatment at the scene.  The passenger was wearing a helmet.  The Water Utilities driver was not injured.

A preliminary investigation showed the 2009 Ford F150 was traveling north on rust when it failed to yield the right of way to the 2002 Honda motorcycle that was traveling west on Baker.

This afternoon, Traffic Investigators returned to the crash site for follow-up investigation.  A Nixle alert was issued to drivers to avoid the area.

The City employee will be issued a Citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way at Stop Sign.
