Have you ever wondered how a San Angelo Police Officer is trained?
At the Citizens Police Academy, you will have the opportunity to see and hear firsthand the overwhelming curriculum recruits must master before they can wear the uniform of the San Angelo Police Department.
Your instructors will be real police officers and civilian specialists who will take you on an accelerated overview of the various operations of the San Angelo Police Department.
It’s our goal to increase understanding of police work and to develop effective police/community partnerships.

What is the Citizen's Police Academy?
The Citizens Police Academy is designed to familiarize those attending with the various divisions, sections, and units within the agency and to discuss the different functions of the police department. The ‘students' will participate in practical exercises as well, including traffic contacts and use of the firing range.
The Citizens Police Academy meets for twelve weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m.
Who May Attend?
You must be at least eighteen years old to apply.
Those interested in attending can obtain an application at the Community Services Division located at 505 S. Chadbourne or complete this online Enrollment Application.
