According to the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office, the cause of Phillip A. Lara’s death is likely due to blunt force trauma resulting from a fall; however, an official ruling for the cause of death is pending the final results of the autopsy.

March 11, 2018 — San Angelo Police are conducting a death investigation on Veterans Memorial Drive.
Around 8:30 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Public Safety Communications received a call from a passerby concerning a man floating in the Concho River near the 600 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
Officers arrived and located the deceased man on the riverbank, partially in the water. Justice of the Peace Fred Buck responded to the scene and formally pronounced the man deceased and ordered an autopsy. The cause of death is under investigation.
The man has been identified as Phillip A. Lara, 26, of San Angelo. Next of kin has been notified.
This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available. Detective Josh Jones is the lead investigator on this case.
