Street Crimes Detectives Locate Animal Cruelty, Drugs, Poor Living Conditions during Search Warrant

On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, members of the Department’s Street Crimes Division executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the 1900 block of South Randolph Street.

The warrant, issued by District Court Judge Ben Woodward, named 20-year-old Kelien Thompson to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana at the residence.

Thompson and two male juveniles, who were observed in the backyard upon arrival, fled on foot; however, the trio was apprehended after a brief foot chase through the neighborhood.  An infant, a third male juvenile, and a second adult, 19-year-old Alexis Comeaux, were located inside the residence and detained.

During the subsequent search of the residence, Investigators located and seized a quantity of items consistent with the manufacture and distribution of THC products and marijuana along with two firearms and approximately $1,300.00 in U.S. Currency.

In addition to the discovery of the contraband, Investigators located a puppy that was suffering from significant injuries.  Representatives from COSA Animal Services responded to the scene and took custody of the dog.  COSA Fire Marshals and Water Department Officials also responded due to the residence’s substandard living conditions and illegal appropriation of water utilities.  Child Protective Services Officials responded and took custody of the infant.

Thompson and Comeaux were ultimately charged with Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 >= 4G<400G.  Additional charges may be pending the outcome of this ongoing investigation.  Two of the juveniles were arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of Evading Arrest Detention.  The third juvenile was released to a parent.

Members of the Department’s Anti-Crime Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, and the Center for Tactical Medicine assisted with yesterday’s warrant operation.
