Les Bird

Les Bird was hired in October 1992.  He served as a Patrolman and Narcotics Detective prior to being promoted to Sergeant in 1998.  As a Sergeant, Bird served in Patrol, Patrol Administration and the Criminal Investigation Division. In May of 2003 Bird promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned as the Criminal Investigation Division Commander.

In July 2004 Lt. Bird was transferred to the Patrol Division where he served as Commander of Adam Company and the Traffic Section until August of 2012.

August 2012 to July 2016 Lt. Bird served as Commander of Public Safety Communications, Information Technology, Records Division, and Community Services. 

July 2016 to Oct 2019 Lt. Bird served as Commander of the Criminal investigations Division.

In Oct 2019, Lt. Bird was reassigned as Commander of the Street Crimes Division.  He also serves as Critical Incident Commander.

Lt. Bird holds a Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.  He also holds a BA in Government/Criminal Justice from Angelo State University.
