On September 10, 2018, San Angelo Police responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Catalina Drive for the report of a burglary.
While enroute to the call Police learned that the suspect, believed to be a juvenile, fled the scene prior to their arrival.
During the field investigation, Officers learned the suspect gained entry to the residence through an unsecured door and stole several pieces of unique jewelry, and while processing the scene a technician with the Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit located and processed a shoe print believed to belong to the suspect. Through extensive follow up investigation, the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Analysis Unit identified a 16-year-old male juvenile as a person of interest in the case.
On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Officers located the juvenile and he was subsequently magistrated by Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire. The juvenile’s shoes were also seized for comparison.
During the follow up investigation, Investigators conducted a consent search of the juvenile’s residence and two pieces of the stolen jewelry were located.
The suspect was charged with Burglary of Habitation and transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.
