Press Release #101215(03)-Man Arrested after Using Vehicle as a Weapon

On Sunday, October 11, 2015, around 5:30 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. Emerick Street  and E. Beauregard for a rolling domestic dispute that reportedly began in the 300 block of N. Bryant Boulevard and was headed towards Police Headquarters, 401 E. Beauregard.  While enroute, Officers learned the suspect had rammed his vehicle into the victim's vehicle.

The suspect, later identified as Julio Mendoza-Badillo (DOB 01-26-91), pursued the victim's vehicle through the back parking lot of the Police Station at a high rate of speed before stopping his vehicle for Officers near the intersection of S. Emerick Street and E. Beauregard.   During an interview with Police, Mendoza-Badillo showed signs of intoxication but refused to take complete field sobriety tests at the scene.

During the field investigation, Police learned Mendoza-Badillo intentionally used his vehicle to strike the victim's vehicle at least two separate times before the chase terminated.  The victim, Mendoza-Badillo's wife, drove to Police Headquarters after being guided there by a 9-1-1 Dispatcher.

Mendoza-Badillo was charged with Aggravated Assault Family Violence and transported to the Tom Green County Jail where he underwent Intoxilyzer testing.  Following the test, Mendoza-Badillo was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Neither Mendoza-Badillo nor the victim reported being injured from the vehicle collisions.  There is no further information at this time.
