The San Angelo Police Department is investigating the death of an 11-month old infant who passed away this afternoon in South San Angelo.
At about 1:50 p.m., San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a residence at the River Bend Estates located in the 4400 block of River Bend for the report of an unconscious infant.
First responders located the male infant, began life saving measures, and transported him to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later.
The Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to investigate the circumstances leading up to the child's death. At this time, the cause of death is undetermined and officials have ordered an autopsy. The child's name is not being released.
This investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.
