Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division have identified the suspect who stole a painting from City Hall last month, thanks to multiple tips from the public.
The painting, which was on loan from the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, was recovered this morning and is in Police custody.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
The Department would like to thank our citizens and media partners for sharing the surveillance video, which had over 49,000 views on Facebook, as well as the information in the press release. This community partnership indisputably led to the painting’s recovery.
Update 1-5-17, 3:30 p.m.: The victim, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, has declined to press charges.
