The San Angelo Police Department Narcotics Division has completed an extensive investigation that lasted approximately six months and has resulted in the grand jury indictment of seventeen individuals. According to Lt. Tracy Fincher, Narcotics Division commander, the grand jury indictments, which were handed down earlier this week, were for Engaging in Organized Crime-a first degree felony. Many of the individuals that were indicted were significant mid-to-upper level methamphetamine dealers who operated in San Angelo and the surrounding area. The indicted individuals are: •1. BALDERAS, Carlos (07/08/84) •2. BALDWIN, Ray (07/16/75) •3. BARKIS, Kenneth Brad (09/20/81) •4. BURNEY, Tori (11/03/76) •5. CAMPBELL, Kelly (02/28/68) •6. CROWDER, Chris (11/24/77) •7. DeHOYOS, Charlotte (12/17/63) •8. GARCIA, Raul (08/17/84) •9. LARA, Mandi (02/20/87) •10. LARGE, Dusty (10/03/72) •11. McLARIN, Chris (11/28/79) •12. PULLEN, Franklin Eddie (08/08/75) •13. SHAFFER, Michael (07/24/82) •14. STRICKLAND, Lee (02/18/71) •15. WAGNER, Walter (07/28/78) •16. WAYNE, Billy (10/24/74) The San Angelo Police Department's Narcotics Division spearheaded the investigation and was assisted by the West-Central Texas Inter-local Crime Task Force and the Texas Department of Public Safety's Narcotics Service. All but one of the indicted suspects were either in jail at the time the indictments were handed down or have since been arrested. At the time of this press release the last indictment was still sealed. Regarding the indictments, San Angelo Police Chief Tim Vasquez said, "I know I speak for the entire community when I say that I am very proud of the hard work and long hours put in by the detectives of the Narcotics Division to bring this investigation to successful conclusion. This is an outstanding example of what law enforcement agencies can do when they work together. The citizens of San Angelo can rest a little easier tonight knowing that these suspects are being held accountable for their crimes."
