On 9/11/22, Officers with the SAPD were made aware of a social media post that was circulating regarding possible threats toward a local school. SAPD’s Criminal Investigation Division were requested to assist with the investigation and began gathering information to help develop a suspect.
The investigation continued into the morning hours of 9/12/22 and the SAPD worked in conjunction with SAISD to provided additional security at local schools while also continuing to investigate the incident. During this time, SAPD Detectives maintained a visual observance of the possible suspect.
During the morning hours of 9/12/22, the SAPD was able to take a 16 year old male subject into custody at a local residence and he was charged with “Terroristic Threats.” The 16 year old male was then transported to the Juvenile Justice Center without further incident.

The goal of the SAPD and the SAISD is to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all of our students throughout the City of San Angelo.
The SAPD and SAISD continues to highly encourage anyone with information regarding possible threats to our schools and students to contact the Police Department directly with their concerns so we can address them accordingly.
