SAPD Investigates Viral Post regarding a school shooting

On 10/22/21, Officers with the San Angelo Police Department were made aware of a screen shot of a “Snapchat” conversation where a subject made threats regarding “Bullying” and “Shooting” students at “Central High School.” Our Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and we learned that that screenshot was confirmed to have originated out of Missouri via the St. Joseph Missouri Police Department. The San Angelo Independent School District was made aware of this investigation and we deemed that there was no credible threat towards our Central High School. As a precaution, the San Angelo Police Department will implement extra patrols in/around the area of Central High School in addition to the Officers assigned to security at the school.

The SAPD would like to thank all the concerned citizens who reached out to make us aware of this threat. The SAPD takes these threats very seriously and we will continue to partner with the SAISD to provide a safe environment for our students to learn.
