San Angelo Police Nab Car Thieves, Recover Stolen Items Connected to Multiple Vehicle Burglaries

Sunday, September 24, 2017—  Two 22-year-old San Angelo men are facing multiple charges following a recovered-stolen vehicle investigation at a residence on E. 21st Street.

Police were dispatched to the residence around 9:00 p.m. after a victim called to report he located his stolen Buick Verano in the backyard of the residence.  Before releasing the vehicle to the owner, Officers processed the vehicle for evidence and seized several items of suspected stolen property.

During the field investigation, two subjects pulled up in front of the residence.  Officers made contact with the occupants and observed open containers of alcohol inside.  The subjects were detained and identified as Joshua Gonzalez of San Angelo, who had warrants, and Brady Richardson of Ballinger, Texas.  Gonzalez was arrested for his warrants.

Subsequent to a search of the vehicle, Officers located numerous items, including credit cards, checkbooks and electronics, which have been reported stolen in recent burglaries.  A computerized record check of the vehicle Gonzalez and Richardson arrived in, a 2008 Toyota Tundra, showed the truck was reported stolen from a residence on Christoval Road on September 18, 2017.

Gonzalez and Richardson were transported to Police Headquarters for questioning.  Following their interviews, Gonzalez was charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle and several warrants.  He was also issued a citation for Open Container Alcohol.  Richardson was charged with Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information 5<10 and Possession Dangerous Drug X2.  Richardson was also issued a citation for Possession Drug Paraphernalia.  The pair was booked into the Tom Green County Jail.

Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the outcome of this ongoing investigation.
