A 24-year San Angelo Police Department veteran is continuing the Department’s tradition of Senior Officers who have earned the opportunity to attend the Federal Bureau of Investigations training academy.
Lieutenant Ed Kading, Commander of the San Angelo Police Department’s esteemed Street Crimes Division (SCD), was selected in part due to his experience and leadership abilities. Prior to his appointment as Commander of SCD, Kading has served in the Patrol Division, Narcotics Section, Criminal Investigations Division, Training Section, and in Internal Affairs.
The FBI Academy is the world’s premier law enforcement learning and research center and an advocate for law enforcement’s best practices worldwide. Operated by the Bureau’s Training Division, the academy is situated on 547 acres within the immense Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia.
During the eleven week program, Kading will be submerged into classes equated to graduate-level courses accredited through the University of Virginia on topics such as; Leadership Essentials for Law Enforcement Executives; Intelligence Theory and Application for Law Enforcement Managers; Cyber Threat Landscape for Law Enforcement Executives; Media and Managing the Law Enforcement Image; Contemporary Issues in Law Enforcement; and Fitness for Law Enforcement. In addition to the academy’s core academics, attendees are required to participate in rigorous physical training and must pass a standardized physical fitness test.
Trainees who successfully complete the program will graduate during a special ceremony slated for December 15, 2017.
