Press Release #102915(20)-Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Northeast San Angelo

Around 7:40 p.m. last night, San Angelo Police Patrol Officer C. Delacruz was driving near the 400 block of S. Bell Street when he discovered a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

 

It was learned that prior to Officer Delacruz's arrival, Claude Holland Jr. walking in the roadway with the flow of traffic and was struck by a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix that was traveling northbound in the outside lane.  The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old female San Angelo resident, noticed Holland and attempted to stop but was unable to avoid impact. 

 

Holland sustained incapacitating injuries from the collision and he was transported to Shannon Medical Center by City Ambulance for evaluation.  Hospital staff advised Police that Holland's injuries did not appear to be life threatening.  His current condition is unknown.  The driver was not injured.

 

Holland appeared to be under the influence of alcohol prior to the crash.  Investigators listed alcohol and failure to yield the right of way to a vehicle as contributing factors in the Crash Report. 

 

At this time, no charges have been filed and no citations have been issued.
