Press Release #091615(14)-Two Face Drug Charges after Vader Makes Astral Discovery

Two San Angelo residents are facing drug charges after an SAPD Service Dog alerted Officers during a recent traffic stop.

On Monday, September 14, 2015, just before 10:00 p.m., San Angelo Police stopped a white 1993 Ford Expedition in the 700 block of E. 22nd Street for traffic violations.

During the stop, police identified the driver, Willie Lloyd, Jr. (DOB 12-21-57), and passenger, Aletha M. Rose (DOB 08-10-61).  During a records search, Rose was identified as having an outstanding County Arrest Warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Police K9 Supervisor Chris Cimino and Police Service Dog Vader were called to the scene to assist.  Vader conducted an open-air 'sniff? of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of contraband.

Officers then conducted a Probable Cause Search and located approximately 3.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine inside Lloyd's pocket.  The substance field-tested positive for the presence of cocaine.  Police also located approximately 2.6 grams of marijuana from underneath the front passenger's seat.

Lloyd was issued a Citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance and charged with Felony 2 Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.  Rose was charged with Class A Possession of Marijuana.  Both were transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
