On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at approximately 5:30 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in northeast San Angelo for the report of an assault.
Police arrived and met with a 34-year-old San Angelo woman who told them she had been sexually assaulted by a past acquaintance identified as 33-year-old Francisco E. Arambula of San Angelo.
Additional Officers arrived and conducted a search of the residence and nearby area in an attempt to locate Arambula, but he was not located. While at the scene, Officers collected evidence and text messages Arambula sent to the victim after the incident.
Detective J. Cannady responded to continue the investigation along with Crime Scene Investigations and it was discovered Arambula entered the victim's residence through a window. Yesterday morning, Detective Cannady applied for Search and Arrests Warrants for Arambula and Officers attempted to locate Arambula at multiple locations.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, members of the Department's Special Operations Section (S.O.S.) Narcotics Section, Criminal Investigations Division, and Lake Patrol Division executed the Warrants at a residence located in the 2300 block of Chestnut. Arambula was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the residence, Officers located evidence relating to the sexual assault as well as evidence that connected Arambula to a burglary that occurred at the same victim's residence on March 24, 2016.
Arambula was charged with Felony 2 Sexual Assault and transported to the Tom Green County Jail. Detective J. Cannady is the lead Investigator on this case. Arambula has also been charged with Felony 2 Burglary of a Habitation. Detective J. Hernandez is the lead Investigator on that case.
