Police Investigate Shooting of 14-year-old San Angelo Teen

Update: January 6, 2020, 8:00 p.m.

Investigators with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection to this morning’s shooting of a 14–year-old male in the 1600 block of Volney Street. The teen has been charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon.

This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.

January 6, 2020 — Just before 2:30 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Volney Street for the report of a shooting victim.  

Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old male who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The officers rendered first aid to the teen before his transport to a nearby hospital.  He is reportedly in stable condition. 

The initial investigation indicates that this is an isolated incident and is not a random act of violence.
