Man Shot, Killed in Apparent Residential Burglary

The man killed in yesterday's apparent burglary was identified as Jaime Mendoza (DOB 03/30/91).

March 19, 2018 — A 26-year-old San Angelo man was shot and killed during an apparent residential burglary at a local apartment complex this afternoon. 

Just after 12:20 p.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of South Fillmore Street for the report of a burglary in progress where the resident shot the intruder.  Upon arrival, Police located the intruder inside the apartment, deceased.  Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire responded to the scene and formally pronounced the man deceased due to injuries he incurred from the gunshot wound. 

The resident, a 19-year-old San Angelo man, was not injured.  

Detectives with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the location along with the Crime Scene Investigations Unit.  

The deceased man’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. 

This is an active investigation and no additional information is available for release.
