Group of Teen Vehicle Burglars Arrested in Early Morning Bust

March 21, 2019 — Several teens were arrested on various charges connected to a vehicle burglary in a South San Angelo neighborhood this morning. 

Just after 2:00 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the El Conquistador Apartments located in the 1700 block of Knickerbocker Road for the report of suspicious subjects in the parking lot.  The subjects were reportedly dressed in dark clothing, carrying backpacks and looking through vehicles.  

When officers arrived, the subjects fled on foot.  Additional units converged on the area and two of the subjects were quickly located and detained without incident.  

Shortly after, two additional subjects were observed crossing Knickerbocker Road and entering the PAYS Academic Alternative School parking lot.  The subjects were also detained without incident.  One of the subjects was carrying a backpack.  

Through further investigation, it was discovered the subjects matched the description of a group of subjects who were observed in the area of a recent Burglary of a Motor Vehicle at the Sunset Apartments where a Coach purse had been stolen. 

Subsequent to the field investigation, the stolen Coach purse was located inside the backpack and later returned to the victim of the vehicle burglary. 

Martin Cano, age 17, was charged with Evading arrest Detention.  Angel Ledesma, age 17, was charged with Criminal Trespass.  A 16-year-old male was charged with Burglary of Motor Vehicle and a 15-year-old male was charged with Evading arrest Detention and Resisting Arrest.  Cano and Ledesma were transported to the Tom Green County Jail.  Both juveniles were transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.
