January 19, 2020 – At approximately 7:45 a.m., San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 5200 block of Ben Ficklin Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash with entrapment.
Units arrived and located a partially submerged pickup truck in the drainage ditch.
The driver and single occupant, 38-year-old Tyler Grappe, was unresponsive and pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire.
The preliminary crash investigation revealed Grappe was traveling westbound around 4:00 a.m. when his truck left the roadway and collided with the median and a utility pole before coming to rest on the embankment.
Next of kin has been notified.
