A San Angelo man is behind bars today for burglarizing a vehicle thanks to a citizen who witnessed the crime.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Police responded to a burglary call at the Express Donuts located in the 2200 block of Sherwood Way.  Officers arrived and spoke with the victim who had items taken from his vehicle, and a witness who saw the suspect taking items from the vehicle.   The witness was able to give an accurate description of the suspect as well as a direction of travel.  Officers were able to locate the suspect in the 2000 block of San Antonio.  After further investigation, Officers arrested Drew Harding (03/11/60) without incident for the burglary.   A search of Hardy's person (front pants pocket) revealed items taken from the victim's wallet.

Harding was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Burglary of a Vehicle.

San Angelo Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene of a Hit and Run crash in the 600 block of South Chadbourne Street early Sunday morning.

At approximately 1:53 a.m. Sunday morning, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the report of a major motor vehicle accident in the 600 block of S. Chadbourne St.  Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old male victim who had been struck by a vehicle.  The man was transported to Shannon Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.  His current condition is unknown. 

The man was crossing the street in the 600 block of S. Chadbourne St. from west to east when a white passenger car struck him while traveling north in the outside lane.  The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid to the victim and continued north on Chadbourne St. without stopping.

Witnesses describe the suspect's vehicle as a white 4-door passenger car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am missing some or all of its hub caps.  The vehicle may also have some damage to the front and/or right side of the vehicle.

Investigators from DPS and SAPD arrest 9 local men during a week long investigation involving the online solicitation of minors.

The Texas DPS Criminal Investigative Division and the San Angelo PD Special Operations Section joined forces to stop the individuals targeting local children.  The investigators used common everyday technology (cell phones / computers) to find and capture predators looking for young girls.   Along with the arrests, the investigation also included three search warrants and the seizure of multiple electronic communication devises.  All those arrested believed they were interacting with local children younger than 15.

Online Solicitation: An adult (17 or older) commits an offense if he/she has communication of a sexually explicit manner with a minor (younger than 17) or who he/she believes is a minor over the internet and solicits a meeting to engage in sexual contact/intercourse.  This communication can be made by electronic mail, text, message system, or other online services.   This offense is third degree felony.

With the popularity of social media and the availability of cell phones, tablets, and computers, our children are at risk of being preyed upon anywhere at any time.   Present day technology, while convenient, often presents dangers to our children that will often go unnoticed, is misunderstood, or seems harmless.  The investigators of both the DPS and SAPD would like everyone to know the dangers that are present here in San Angelo. One person dies after a two cars crashed last night in the 700 block of North Bryant Boulevard.                                                                                                                                 

On December 6, 2014, at approximately 11:55 p.m., San Angelo Police responded to an accident at 7th and Bryant Blvd.   Upon arrival, Officers located a white Dodge Ram pickup and a red Honda Civic passenger car still in the intersection.  Officers believed one of the drivers was severely injured and called for additional help from the SAPD Traffic Section.   Traffic Officer Brian Bylsma was assigned to lead the investigation.  

Officers and EMT's were unable to get to the driver of the Civic and additional Fire Department personnel were called to the scene to assist with recovery.  The Jaws of Life were required to extract the driver of the Civic.   The driver of the Civic, Aaron James Allen (03/21/94) of San Angelo, succumbed to fatal injuries he sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased by Judge E. Howard at the scene.    The occupants of the pickup, Jaime Tankersley (08/17/83) and 25-year-old male passenger, Wesley Tankersley, both of San Angelo, were not injured in the accident.

Preliminary investigation shows the Civic was traveling south on Bryant Blvd.  The Dodge pickup was turning left from Bryant to the Houston Harte frontage road.  The driver of the pickup failed to yield the right of way turning left and collided with the Civic in the intersection.   Officers on scene believed alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.  After further investigation, J. Tankersley was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter w/ Vehicle.  J. Tankersley was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.  The incident is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.  

Two San Angelo men are behind bars for burglarizing a residence thanks to citizens who assisted responding officers in locating the suspects.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. yesterday, San Angelo Police responded to a burglary call at the Bellagio Apartments located in the 2500 block of Sweetbriar Dr.  Officers arrived and witnesses gave descriptions of the suspects and gave their last known direction of travel.   Officer's quickly located one of the suspects, Favian Martinez (03/20/96), walking in the 2500 block of Lindenwood and placed him in custody. 

The second suspect was also on foot and was being followed by a witness to the burglary.  The witness called dispatch and gave the location of the suspect.  Officers arrived and arrested the second suspect, Sean Ricks (11/21/94), in the 2600 block of Hemlock.   Items found on Ricks were confirmed stolen from the apartment.

Ricks and Martinez were charged with Burglary of a Habitation and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.  Both Ricks and Martinez were not cooperative at the jail and became combative towards the transporting officers and jailers.  Both were subsequently charged with Resisting Arrest or Search.

This incident is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
